Before you ask

What exactly is Kaunta?+
A counter app for small bars. The cashier records every drink sold (cash, M-Pesa or on credit) with a tap; the owner watches totals, stock and debt live from anywhere. It works on the phones you already own.
Does it really work without internet?+
Yes. Every sale is saved on the phone first. The moment the phone has *any* connection, Kaunta pushes the outbox to the cloud and pulls everything new down. Nothing is lost and the unique op-ID system means a repeated sync never double-counts a bottle.
How do payments work?+
After the free 30-day trial the bar pays KES 500/month with M-Pesa. In automatic mode the owner taps "Send M-Pesa prompt" and enters the PIN. Without any setup, manual mode shows the Till number + account — the owner pays and verifies the M-Pesa code in the app.
How do I install it on the phone?+
Open this site (https://kaunta.pages.dev) in the phone's browser, tap Install the app → kaunta.html. Android Chrome shows "Add to Home screen" or an install prompt; on iPhone use Share → Add to Home Screen. It then opens full-screen and works offline.
Can more than one phone use the same bar?+
Yes. The owner shares the 6-digit join code from Settings. A staff phone with the code joins the same bar and stays in sync with the owner and every other device.
What happens if the subscription lapses?+
You get a 7-day grace window, then the app locks new sales until payment is confirmed. Your data stays safe in the cloud — the moment you renew, everything syncs again exactly as it was.
Is my money data safe?+
Accounts use email + password (password hashed with PBKDF2), sessions are bearer tokens stored hashed on the server, and everything travels over HTTPS. The database is Cloudflare D1 — a real, redundant cloud database.
